A YouTube content creator filmed as he hijacked a gun buyback event in San Antonio, Texas, privately acquiring firearms for low prices before police could swap them out in exchange for gift cards.
Claiming he wanted to “save guns,” Brandon Herrera (@TheAKGuy) last week headed to the city’s first voluntary gun buyback event held at the Alamodome where police purchased over 900 guns, swapping them out for $50-$300 grocery store gift cards.
Despite being confronted by police and asked to leave the property, Herrera, who’s launched a Republican congressional bid in Texas’ 23rd District, managed to pick up four guns from private sales near the event, on which the city spent a staggering $100,000.
Furthermore, the pro-Second Amendment influencer explained the data shows gun buybacks simply don’t work, and even one of the event organizers, San Antonio city council member John Courage, admitted the buyback wasn’t about addressing so-called gun violence, “but it is an effort to make people feel safer and to end maybe other violent activities that could be occurring in the home.”

Herrera additionally tried to sell some firearms he’d brought along that he’d purchased for less than $200 in attempts to turn a profit, however, the buyback ended before he could conduct the transaction.
The stunt was a great middle finger to the establishment and received a massive positive response on social media, except for a few anti-gunners.
