Union argues recently-fired Catherine Herridge having First Amendment violated by CBS
CBS News is under fire for its treatment of reporter Catherine Herridge, who was recently fired by the outlet before it recently seized computers containing her research data and personal sources.
Herridge was reportedly investigating Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop before being let go by CBS.
Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg pointed out on ? how suspicious the move looks, writing, “After firing investigative reporter Catherine Herridge who was investigating the Hunter Biden laptop story, CBS reportedly seized her belongings. Nothing to see here. The network reportedly seized all of her belongings including files, computers and most importantly, information on privileged sources.”

The union representing CBS employees, SAG-AFTRA, “strongly” condemned CBS News’ seizure of the journalist’s notes, research and confidential source information.

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley, who has previously worked for CBS and with Herridge, said in an opinion piece published Thursday that he’d talked “confidentially with current and former CBS employees” who had never seen anything like this before.
An ex-employee told Turley many current CBS News workers “are confused why [Herridge] was laid off, as one of the correspondents who broke news regularly and did a lot of original reporting,” and that the seizure of her data sent a “chilling signal” among the crew.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) noted the FBI recently arrested a top informant for reportedly “lying” about Joe Biden doing business with Hunter Biden. Now, a reporter investigating the family’s corruption has had her files taken by the establishment media.
