Sheriff Slams Biden Admin over Killing of Rachel Morin: “We’re 1,800 Miles from the Border”

Rachel Morin was brutally raped and murdered by Victor Hernandez

Hartford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler slammed the Biden administration over the brutal rape and murder of Rachel Morin, a mother of five. Her killer, Victor Hernandez, a Salvadorean national, was arrested in Oklahoma on Friday.

“I want to direct these comments to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and to every member in both chambers of Congress,” Sheriff Gahler said at a press conference, on Saturday.

“We are 1,800 miles away, here in Hartford County, from the southern border, and American citizens are not safe because of failed immigration policies. This is the second time in just two years that an innocent Hartford County woman has lost her life to a criminal in our country illegally.”

“In both cases, they were suspects from El Salvador with ties to criminal gangs. It should not be happening.

“Victor Hernandez did not come here to make a better life for himself or for his family. He came here to escape the crime he committed in El Salvador. He came here and murdered Rachel and, God willing, no-one else. But that should never have been allowed to happen.”

Hernandez fled to the United States from El Salvador after murdering a woman in January 2023. He then attacked a mother and her young daughter in a home invasion in Los Angeles, in March 2023. DNA from the crime scene matched him to the murder of Rachel Morin, six months later.

Hernandez attacked Morin while she was walking alone on a trail. Her body was left so badly damaged by the savage attack, her family said she looked as though “her head had been smashed in with a rock.”

Hernandez has been charged with rape and first-degree murder.
