A 62-year-old man was seriously injured during a brutal, unprovoked attack by a mob of ‘teens’ in New York, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded on Staten Island on July 15, but surveillance footage just surfaced this week.
The victim was strolling along a busy road just after 7 p.m. that evening when a pack of 8 to 10 young, black males began following him and verbally harassing him, SILive reports.
Video shows the horde swarming and hitting the man on the sidewalk after one of the youths threatened him.
“He raised his fists and said, ‘Pick one,’ and I said, ‘Not interested,’” the victim told NBC New York.
“I thought it was just a kid joking around.
The victim ran into the street to escape his assailants but the beating continued out of view of the camera.
Eventually, Good Samaritans intervened and the suspects fled the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for broken teeth, lacerations, and bruising.
“His mouth is all messed up. He was blindsided and kicked all over his body,” a relative of the victim told local media.
“He fell flat on his face, not expecting anybody to hit him.”
Only two suspects, ages 13 and 14, have been arrested at the time of this writing, according to the latest available information.
The traumatized victim says he is afraid to go outside and wants to move away from his neighborhood.
“I want to leave here. I no longer want to live here,” he said.
