Honduran Illegal Arrested for ‘Random’ Knife Attack on Teen Girl at Indiana Baseball Game

Man wielding “butcher-style knife” ambushes girl and her mother at local ball game

A previously-deported illegal alien was arrested following an unprovoked knife attack on a 14-year-old girl and her mother at a baseball game in Indiana over the weekend.

The shocking incident unfolded at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Lowell, a town in Lake County.

The teen victim was watching her brother play ball at local VFW field when a man wielding a “butcher-style knife” ambushed her, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD)

The girl was reportedly stabbed in the hand during the altercation.

When her mother intervened, the suspect tried to slash her, as well.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and remained on the loose for some time.

On Sunday, LCSD announced the arrest of 26-year-old Dimas Gabriel Yanz, a Honduran national who is illegally present in the U.S.

Yanz was spotted running through a cornfield and was apprehended after a foot chase.

“It’s believed he was in the process of cutting his hair to change his appearance just before he was arrested. Investigators have learned Yanez had been deported to Honduras in 2018 and may have been engaged in criminal activity across the United States since returning to the country illegally,” LCSD explained in a statement.

Yanz is being held at Lake County Jail and the Department of Homeland Security has been notified of his arrest.

The girl was treated for her injuries at a local hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
