Watch: Aurora Residents Warn Citizen Journalist About Venezuelan Gang Takeover

Democrats like Colorado Gov. Jared Polis have been denying the gang activity despite local officials sounding the alarm.

Colorado state and local officials are making conflicting allegations about a systematic takeover of apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado by Venezuelan gangs.

So a citizen journalist has gone on the ground to ask Aurora residents what’s really happening in the area.

Numerous residents in Aurora detail to Tyler Oliveira how Venezuelan gangs, most with Tren de Aragua affiliations, have stormed apartment complexes and transformed them into bases of criminal operation while local authorities turn a blind eye.

One Venezuelan confirmed that the apartment area is mostly occupied by other Venezuelans and saw a dramatic increase in crime, but refused to detail more, fearing gang retaliation.

“Yes, lots of bullets, but the thing is, I can’t really talk about it because my security is at risk. I’ll be in danger,” he said in Spanish.

Oliveira also pointed out the presence of bullet holes in nearby vehicles and walls.

Another couple said they’ve “been terrorized” and believe “Denver is targeted” by the Venezuelans because of its central location in the country and its distance from the southern border.

The man said he wants to see authorities “shut this place down.”

“Just like they did on Nome Street,” he said, referring to the Fitzsimons Place apartments that Infowars first reported had been taken over by Venezuelan gangs last month.

One resident of the complex Cindy Romero told Fox News over the weekend that she and other residents were “left to die” by state authorities, who have repeatedly dismissed their reports about the gang takeover.

Aurora Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky has also been leading the charge on raising awareness about the growing foreign gang problem, even getting support from Mayor Mike Coffman.

But Democrat Gov. Jared Polis dismissed Jurinsky’s warnings about the gang takeover as a “figment of her imagination” despite the emergence of several videos showing gangs storming the complexes.

“The Governor has already let the Mayor know that the State is ready to support the local police department with assistance from state troopers and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if needed,” Shelby Wieman, a spokesperson for the Democratic governor, told the New York Post last week.

“But, according to police intelligence this purported invasion is largely a feature of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”

Jurinsky hit back at Polis, claiming his “weak policies” turned places like Aurora into “a breeding ground for this gang activity.”

“I absolutely did not make any of this up. I love that that is how our governor has quickly rushed in to say that that’s the actual problem here,” she said. “But the actual problem here are his weak policies that have turned this state into a breeding ground for this gang activity.”
