Actor Dennis Quaid: Facebook Censoring “Reagan” Film Posts To Silence Conservatives

Hollywood legend says Big Tech censors acting ‘Like the old Soviet Union’

Longtime Hollywood actor Dennis Quaid is lashing out at Facebook for censoring content related to his upcoming film, Reagan, celebrating the life of U.S. President Ronald Reagan.

The film’s director of digital marketing, Eric McClellan, also wrote a letter to the CEO of Facebook’s parent company Meta, Mark Zuckerberg.

The letter points out “numerous problems” marketers are having when trying to advertise or boost content related to the movie.

“Facebook is once again censoring the free flow of ideas, deciding what’s best for us to see and hear; only this time it’s throttling advertising and promotion for my movie about Ronald Reagan,” Quaid recently told Newsweek.

One specific post being censored by the social media outlet features the movie title, an image of Quaid, and a Reagan quote, reading, “Don’t let anyone tell you that America’s best days are behind her—that the American spirit has been vanquished. We’ve seen it triumph too often in our lives not to believe it now.”

The official Facebook account for the film has even been suspended twice for simply posting video clips of Quaid promoting Reagan on podcasts and television shows.

Quaid wrote in a statement, “Like the old Soviet Union—are we turning into a country of tech oligarchs who control the platform of groupthink to silence the individual or ‘other’ groups?”

According to Facebook, political posts could influence the 2024 presidential election, but Quaid noted Reagan hasn’t been on a ballot for 40 years.

“Zuckerberg is ultimately responsible for all of this because his company says it might influence the presidential election, but the last time Ronald Reagan’s name was on the ballot was 40 years ago,” said the actor.

He added, “My challenge to Facebook is to ask if any of these tactics were used against other recent presidential biopics like LincolnLBJ, or Southside with You, a film about President Barack Obama, which was also released during an election year.”

It’s possible that Quaid’s reputation as a Trump supporter could be playing a role in Facebook’s censorship of the film.

Quaid previously told newsman Piers Morgan he will be voting for Trump and also joined Tucker Carlson for an interview earlier this year.

It seems as if Facebook is already unleashing its election year censorship crusade where it manipulates elections in the name of protecting voters from disinformation or misinformation.
