A majority of Americans support mass deportation of illegals, including 42% of Democrats
A poll released on Thursday shows that a majority of the American public now supports mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. 51% of those surveyed said they supported the Trump policy. While support was highest among Republicans who took the survey, at 68%, 42% of Democrats said they also support mass deportation.
30% of Democrats also said they’re now in favour of ending birthright citizenship, a measure 46% of Republicans support.
Two-thirds of Americans believe that illegal immigration is a real crisis, not a “politically driven media narrative.”

The public also increasingly reject Joe Biden’s attempt to frame illegal immigration as somebody else’s fault. In recent months, Biden has sought to blame Trump for the current crisis at the border because he “sabotaged” Biden’s bipartisan immigration bill. 32% of respondents said that the Biden administration is “most responsible” for the current crisis.
When asked about their greatest concerns with regard to illegal immigration, Americans top choices were, in order, “increased crime rates, drugs and violence” (21%); “the additional cost to taxpayers” (18%); and “risk of terrorism and national security” (17%).
Nearly two-thirds stated they believe immigrants receive more in welfare and benefits than they pay in taxes, and 56% linked illegal immigration to increasing crime rates.
The poll was conducted online by The Harris Poll using a nationally representative sample of 6,251 adults.
