Ben Shapiro Defends AIPAC Babysitters: ‘Those Are Just Constituents’

Shapiro also excoriated Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for suggesting that “AIPAC is in control of the United States Congress.”

Ben Shapiro on Friday defended every member of Congress having an AIPAC Babysitter by claiming said babysitters are not “handlers” but “just constituents” who “agree with the cause of AIPAC” and lobby on their behalf.

“The people that, for example, Thomas Massie is talking about, those are just constituents who actually agree with the cause of AIPAC and then lobby his office — that’s not a handler,” Shapiro said.

Congressman Thomas Massie reveals to Tucker Carlson that his Republican colleagues have an “AIPAC babysitter” to ensure they vote in the interests of Israel at all times.

“It’s the only country that does this,” Massie adds.

Shapiro also excoriated Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for suggesting that “AIPAC is in control of the United States Congress.”

Such claims are “a full-scale absurdity, I mean that– that– it’s just ridiculous, okay?” Shapiro said.

An unspoken secret in Congress is that much of the reflexive, blind, unconditional vote support for nearly any Israeli gov action isn’t from actual agreement.

It’s from fear.

Reps are terrified of this ⬇️. Of AIPAC. So they don’t vote their conscience. They vote their fear. https://t.co/0MmZnUtBTH

After reading AOC’s tweet stating that Congress votes for Israel out of fear of the Israel Lobby, Shapiro pivoted and used misdirection to act like it’s no big deal and then suggested anyone who disagrees is just anti-Semitic and full of “hatred for Israel and Jews.”

“This is very reminiscent of the kind of language people used to use about the NRA, they say ‘oh the NRA controls gun policy,’ and it turns out, nope, it’s just there are a lot of Americans who support gun rights and then a lot of their congresspeople also support gun rights and when your constituents support a thing you very often tend to support that thing,” Shapiro said. “It turns out the American people are overwhelmingly pro-Israel except for AOC and Nick Fuentes who lock arms in their hatred for Israel and for Jews.”

You’re right we do have irreconcilable differences. I also disavow the genocide of Palestinians and AIPAC unlike many of your colleagues.

You and me, and Rep. Massie, Candace Owens, and Bernie Sanders all agree that the Israel Lobby should not control our foreign policy.

Such nonsense can easily be debunked by the fact that over half of Americans want the US to stop sending Israel weapons and yet not even close to half of our Congress feels the same way. Though in the past Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) was usually the only congressman willing to vote against Israel and defy the will of AIPAC, more recently around a dozen or so congressmen have been willing to tepidly defy their will — but nowhere close to half.

Donald Trump, who “NeverTrumper” Ben Shapiro now fully supports for president, has stated repeatedly that Israel “literally owned Congress” in the past and is actively running on giving the Israel Lobby complete and total control over our government once again.

Trump says Israel needs to finish bombarding Gaza more quickly. He says unnamed people are telling him the Oct. 7 attack never happened, just like Holocaust Deniers. He laments that the Israel Lobby is not powerful enough, and even Chuck Schumer has become “like a Palestinian” pic.twitter.com/yFu8nkCepG

You don’t hear Ben Shapiro complaining about those comments because Trump’s support for Israel is likely the main reason he supports him!
