Yet another blue state attempts to use courts to sabotage former president’s reelection bid.
A county judge in Washington State will review an affidavit seeking to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s upcoming primary in March and the general election.
KOMO News reports several residents and registered voters of Kitsap County signed the affidavit claiming Trump is ineligible to appear on the ballot for inciting an “insurrection.”

More from KOMO News:
A Kitsap County judge will hear a challenge on Tuesday to remove former President Donald Trump from Washington state’s presidential primary ballot in March.
The affidavit, signed by eight Kitsap County residents and registered voters, contests Trump’s eligibility for the ballot based on an interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that cites his “engagement in an insurrection” on Jan. 6, 2021, and requests that Trump’s name be removed from primary and general election ballots.
“As registered voters of the state of Washington, under RCW 29A.68.011 of the election provisions, we request Donald J. Trump’s name to be removed from both the primary and election ballots,” the affidavit reportedly states.
One of the eight people who signed the affidavit argued that citizens opposed to removing Trump could plead their case to the judge, telling KOMO News, “Democracy can only work if the citizens are willing to take action and responsibility…Anyone who is in objection to our position will have their say and the judge will make some sort of decision.”
“What actually happens is completely up to the judge. It could be a trial heard, they could rule we don’t have standing or could rule in our favor,” the voter added.
The first hearing was set for Tuesday, Jan. 16, according to KOMO.

Excluding mention of similar challenges to the president’s appearance on ballots in other Democrat states, Washington’s Democrat Secretary of State claimed he would abide by the judge’s ruling, saying, “I am committed to presenting Washingtonians with the opportunity to make their voices heard in the Presidential primary on March 12, which requires printing ballots and sending them to registered voters weeks ahead of Election Day…Our state’s process gives the courts an important role in answering questions about eligibility.”
Washington’s challenge to the former president’s eligibility marks the latest effort by Democrat states to undermine Trump’s reelection bid, with similar efforts pursued in Colorado and Maine.
The US Supreme Court earlier this month agreed to hear Trump’s challenge to Colorado’s effort to block his name from the ballot in a hearing set for Feb. 8.
The latest legal challenge also comes as Trump decimated his GOP opponents in the Iowa caucus, trouncing second place finisher Ron DeSantis and third place Nikki Haley, adding a jolt of momentum to his presidential campaign.
