CNN Analyst Claims ‘Civil Unrest Across the Country’ If Trump Jailed Over Gag Violation

‘If I’m the Biden campaign, I don’t want to necessarily see him in jail, because that’s just going to get people more inflamed and more fired up,’ says CNN contributor.

MAGA supporters could take to the streets if a New York trial judge decides to put Donald Trump behind bars for violating a gag order, a CNN analyst claimed.

Speaking to CNN’s Jim Acosta, senior political analyst Mark Preston claimed that jailing Trump could backfire, prompting a wellspring of support for the former president’s re-election bid.

“If that were to happen, first of all, I think you would probably see civil unrest across the country, certainly in some cities. That’s one,” Preston suggested.

“And two, politically, if I’m the Biden campaign, I don’t want to necessarily see him in jail, because that’s just going to get people more inflamed and more fired up.”

Preston’s predictions come as the former president slammed the gag order during comments to the press Friday morning, saying it inhibits his constitutional right to free speech.

“The gag order has to come off. People are allowed to speak about me and I have a gag order,” he told reporters outside the Manhattan courtroom.

Trump: The gag order has to come off. I should be allowed to speak… I have to be released from the gag order. They have taken away my constitutional right to speak and that includes speaking to you. I have a lot to say to you and I’m not allowed to say it pic.twitter.com/wq1j72s6Tu

“They are taking away my constitutional rights to speak, and that includes speaking to you. I have a lot to say to you, and I am not allowed to say it — and I’m the only one. Everyone else can say whatever they want about me. They can say anything they want, they can continue to make up lies […] But I’m not allowed to speak. I want to speak to the press and everybody else about it. So why am I gagged?”
