Nitric acid and ammonia leaked from the Thatcher chemical plant in Buckeye, Arizona on Friday night
Emergency officials are on the scene in Buckeye, Arizona after a chemical leak at a plant close to a residential area on Friday evening.
Footage posted on social media shows an orange cloud spreading from the Thatcher chemical manufacturing facility in Buckeye, in close proximity to a residential area.

It’s reported that the chemicals leaking from the facility were nitric acid and ammonia, both of which are hazardous to human health. The visible gas is likely to have been nitric acid.
A temporary shelter-in-place order has now been lifted.
The cause of the leak is unknown at this time.
