Texas delegate robbed at gunpoint while in town for Dem convention
A Texas delegate to the Democrat convention in Chicago was robbed at gunpoint this week, according to reports.
During the overnight hours on Wednesday morning, multiple people were targeted by armed suspects in the downtown area of the Windy City, authorities say.
Just before 2 a.m., a black Land Rover pulled up to a 25-year-old man on a sidewalk and a suspect jumped out brandishing a pistol and demanding the man’s valuables.
The gunman then crossed the street and mugged a 37-year-old man and his female companion.
The male victim in this case was a member of the Texas Democratic Delegation who traveled to Chicago to attend the Democratic National Convention, CWB Chicago reports.
Chicago police believe the suspects, who are described as two black males wearing ski masks, robbed at least six victims over the course of two nights.
The Land Rover, bearing a stolen license plate, was later found at West Garfield Park.
An investigation is ongoing.
