Elderly Woman Killed After Being Thrown in Front of Train by Vagrant in San Francisco

“Transient” with lengthy criminal history arrested for unprovoked attack on 74-year-old victim

A “transient” has been arrested for killing an elderly woman by throwing her in front of a train in California, according to reports.

The shocking attack unfolded just after 11 p.m. on Monday night in San Francisco.

Corazon Dandan, 74, was on her way home from work, standing on a platform at Powell Street Station when she was shoved into the path of an arriving BART train, NBC Bay Area reports.

Dandan reportedly struck her head on a train car and fell onto the tracks below.

She was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

“Officers arrested Trevor Belmont, 49, also known as Hoak Taing, on the platform of Powell Street Station shortly after the incident. Police described Belmont as a ‘transient,’ another word for homeless,” The San Francisco Standard reports.

Dandan’s family told the Standard she immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines in the 1980s and rode the train to work every day.

Belmont was arrested of suspicion of homicide and booked into a county jail on Tuesday morning.
