Syrian teens wreak havoc at outdoor pool in Dortmund
Bedlam broke out at an aquatic center in Germany this week as rival groups clashed and a Syrian suspect sexually assaulted an underage girl, according to reports.
A series of incidents unfolded at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Dortmund, a city in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Police were called to Freibad Volkspark where they arrested two Syrian nationals, both 15 years of age, after they pepper-sprayed victims during an altercation and then violently resisted officers, according to a press release.
Authorities say the Syrian teens, who were turned over to their guardians after being briefly detained, had clashed with a group of German and Lebanese males prior to their arrival.

During the ensuing chaos, a 15-year-old Turkish girl approached police and told them she had been sexually assaulted.
“The officers were able to temporarily arrest the 15-year-old Syrian suspect on the spot and take him to the police station,” a police spokesperson told Nius.
As the Syrian was being escorted to a patrol car, the victim’s relatives confronted friends of the suspect outside the pool and rocks began flying.
A male suspected of throwing stones was also arrested for causing grievous bodily harm.

Later that night, at around 11 p.m., clashes broke out in the city center that may have been a continuation of the swimming pool melee.
Witnesses told police they recognized the Syrian pepper-sprayer among the night combatants, raising questions about why he wasn’t held in custody longer.
Dortmund police later claimed the attack at the pool did not warrant formal charges against the Syrian.
