Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) called on residents in her state to house illegal aliens amid the unprecedented invasion of migrants into America.
Whitmer’s administration is seeking volunteers to do several tasks, including, “meeting the person or family at the airport, helping find housing, enroll children in school, and help with finding employment for adults,” ABC 12 reported.
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Development said residents who participate in the scheme must house the migrants for at least 90 days.
“Programs like the Welcome Corps advance the Office of Global Michigan’s mission to make Michigan the home for opportunity for our immigrant, refugee and ethnic communities,” Poppy Hernandez, Global Michigan Director and Michigan’s Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer, said in a statement last week.
“Expanded refugee resettlement pathways empower more Michiganders to support our state’s growing refugee population and build a more welcoming and inclusive Michigan for all.”
“Sponsors are expected to provide support to newly arrived refugees for 90 days through acts such as greeting refugee newcomers at the airport, securing and preparing initial housing, enrolling children in school and helping adults find employment. Sponsors receive technical support from Private Sponsor Organizations (PSO), which offer hands-on guidance to sponsors and refugees throughout their sponsorship journeys,” Hernandez concluded.
Whitmer’s office said that although the exact number of illegal migrants coming into Michigan is unknown, their influx is replacing the state’s dwindling population.
“It is unclear how many migrants are being located to Michigan, but one Whitmer appointee recently said if it wasn’t for illegals, the state’s population would be shrinking,” The Midwesterner reported.
This comes as other blue states like Massachusetts and New York have made similar calls for residents to take in illegal migrants.

In related news, an elderly couple in England was recently ordered to sell their home so it could be used to house illegal migrants, but fortunately the county council rescinded the order following backlash.
