Jack Smith Compares Trump to Boston Marathon Terrorists in Unhinged Motion Opposing TV Broadcast of DC Trial

Smith in his new filing claimed Trump’s request for cameras in the courtroom is an effort to create a “carnival atmosphere.”

Special Counsel Jack Smith on Monday filed another unhinged motion pleading to a D.C. court not to allow video or audio recording devices during proceedings in former President Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 trial next year.

Smith previously argued in a filing to U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan earlier this month that audio and video should be banned in her courtroom.

Trump’s attorneys on Friday told the D.C. court they would like to see the former president’s upcoming trial be “fully televised” in the name of transparency.

“President Trump absolutely agrees, and in fact demands, that these proceedings should be fully televised,” Trump’s attorneys wrote in a filing.

“The prosecution wishes to continue this travesty in darkness. President Trump calls for sunlight,” they added.

Smith in his new filing claimed Trump’s request for cameras in the courtroom is an effort to create a “carnival atmosphere.”

Trump wants “to create a carnival atmosphere from which he hopes to profit by distracting, like many fraud defendants try to do, from the charges against him,” Smith’s team said, according to NBC News.

“As the Court has already observed in proceedings in the defendant’s criminal trial, the defendant and his counsel will, if permitted, design their in-court statements instead to wage a public relations campaign.”

Smith also compared Trump to the Tsarnaev brothers, who carried out the Boston marathon terrorist bombings in 2013, to argue against the presence of cameras in the courtroom.

Jack Smith just unleashed a temper tantrum in another motion opposing cameras in the courtroom for Trump’s DC trial.

Trump “ignores that high-profile federal criminal trials have long proceeded in accordance with the broadcast prohibition under the rules—and that they have garnered significant and detailed media coverage of courtroom proceedings nonetheless,” the filing claimed, citing the Tsarnaev case.

“This has remained true in the context of trials related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol, including on seditious conspiracy charges,” Smith’s prosecutors wrote.

As reporter Julie Kelly pointed out, Smith’s argument is a lie because most of the media ignored the Jan. 6 defendant trial proceedings.

“This is a flat-out lie. Aside from a few high-profile trials covered by DC-based corporate news reporters, most of the court proceedings for J6ers have been ignored by press. And ‘minute-by-minute’ reporting is in the eye of the reporter, not what the public can hear firsthand,” Kelly said on X.

Trump lambasted Smith and his Democrat prosecution team in a statement on his Truth Social platform, claiming they’ll end up in a “mental institution” due to their Trump Derangement Syndrome.

“Deranged Jack Smith, Andrew Weissmann, Lisa Monaco, the ‘team of losers and misfits’ from CREW, and all the rest of the Radical Left Zealots and Thugs who have been working illegally for years to ‘take me down,’ will end up, because of their suffering from a horrible disease, TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME (TDS!), in a Mental Institution by the time my next term as President is successfully completed. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote.
