HBO late night host Bill Maher roasted Democrat vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz’s attempt to defend his false claim that he carried weapons of war in war, calling him a “a huge liar like all politicians are.”
The “Real Time With Bill Maher” host made it clear Friday that while he doesn’t care that Walz lied, he complained that Walz’s pathetic explanation for the lie is “just insulting my intelligence.”
“[W]hen Tim Walz said, the American people, I talk like they do. No, you don’t, no you don’t. You’re a huge liar like all politicians are,” he said on his Friday show “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
I don’t care, by the way. I’ve always said this about politics, they’re all going to lie, they’re [politicians], it’s what they lie about. I don’t give a shit what you did during the Iraq War, you were in the Guard. So, you — I don’t understand why they just can’t — you’re just insulting my intelligence.”
Walz made several inaccurate claims about his service record in the National Guard since becoming Kamala Harris’s running mate, including misrepresenting his military service rank and claiming he fought in the battlefield during the Iraq War.
Veterans who served alongside Walz in the same battalion when he was in the National Guard have spoken out against his dishonesty about his service record.
