U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle told ABC News on Tuesday that agents in her agency were unable to provide adequate protection of former President Donald Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania due to a roof not being flat.
“That building in particular has a sloped roof, at its highest point. And so, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside,” Cheatle told ABC News.
“Should that roof have been secured?”

While a ‘safety factor’ was allegedly the reason for not securing the roof, what transpired from that decision was indeed a ‘safety factor’, yet not quite in the way Cheatle meant.

Of note, besides roofers, chimney sweeps and Santa Clause, Secret Service agents are known to be able to walk on sloped roofs as well.

While the irony of such a statement may be lost on Cheatle, it was not lost by numerous social media users who noted that at the very rally the attempted assassination took place, agents were perched upon an even ‘slope-ier’ roof – agents which neutralized the shooter, Thomas Crooks.

Secret Service agents have been known to stand on the sloped roof of the White House.

It also appears that these agents are seen on sloped roofs quite regularly. According to photographic evidence, regardless of the building location, weather, roofing material and the angle of slope, federal agents go on roofs routinely.
Outside of Federal agencies, cows have been known to possess the ability to walk on sloped roofs as well.

Others have pointed out that the slope inherent to the building the shooter was upon is indeed, not all that ‘slope-y’.
Notably, before the shooting, a vendor who’s been to nearly all Trump rallies identified the line of sight between the sloped roof and the former President as a major security risk and something completely unseen to her previously.
The news about Iran wanting to assassinate Trump is obviously a lie.
