“We are living in a very corrupt country!” says former president.
Former President Donald Trump blasted reports that the Justice Department is not going to bring charges against Joe Biden for mishandling classified documents while he was vice president.
Special counsel Robert Hur is expected to release a report criticizing Biden’s retention of classified documents in numerous unsecured locations but won’t bring criminal charges, according to reports.
“Wow! Fake news CNN, through a leak from the Department of Injustice, has just reported that no charges will be filed in the (much bigger than mine!!!) Crooked Joe Biden documents case,” Trump said Friday on Truth Social. “We are living in a very corrupt country!”
Trump also decried the “selective prosecution” and “prosecutorial misconduct” at work given he himself was criminally charged by special counsel Jack Smith with mishandling classified documents.
Notably, Trump as former president has the authority to possess classified material at Mar-a-Lago, but Biden as vice president had no authority whatsoever to retain classified documents.
Hur was appointed in January to investigate Biden’s case after classified documents from his time as vice president were found at his former office in Washington, D.C., and his garage in Wilmington, Delaware.
Biden publicly declared that he has “no regrets” over his own conduct and told the public that the documents investigation would determine that “there is no ‘there’ there.”
The White House and Biden’s counsel have long maintained that, as soon as documents were discovered in the D.C. office, they notified the national archives.
But the House Oversight Committee alleged that Biden’s senior aide inspected the classified material on March 18, 2021, two months after Biden took office — nearly 20 months before they were claimed to be found by the Biden team.
This is the two-tiered justice system in action.
He could have papered his beach house walls with classified docs, and this would have been the result https://t.co/xjOfehXM8s
