Shock Video: Couple Shot by Suspects Who Followed Them Home After Hitting Casino Jackpot

Man, woman shot by armed thieves during driveway ambush in Tampa area

A man and woman are recovering from being shot after suspects followed them home from a casino to rob them of their jackpot winnings in Florida, according to reports.

The harrowing incident unfolded in Hillsborough County on August 2, but details and surveillance footage just came to light this week.

Val Delacruz and his girlfriend Kim Chambliss were on a date at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa when Delacruz decided to play the slot machines.

“I hit and I got a jackpot. And, you know, I was dancing,” he told Fox 13.

The couple departed the casino with about $3,000 in prize money and drove home.

As they were walking to the front door of their residence in Riverview, they were ambushed by masked men brandishing pistols.

Ring doorbell footage shows Delacruz and Chambliss both being shot, with the boyfriend ending up on the ground as his partner escaped inside.

“I ran and I fell in the door and the other guy came out and shot me again for the third time in my left leg,” said Delacruz.

The suspects made off with the couple’s valuables as Delacruz lay suffering from gunshot wounds to both legs while Chambliss was struck in the calf.

Authorities later tracked down two male suspects and said they were still searching for a third as of Thursday.

“Investigators arrested Marcus Jenkins and Tristin Wright. Surveillance video shows the duo watching the couple at the Hard Rock Casino. Investigators told the couple the suspects watched them for two hours and then followed them all the way back to Riverview,” Fox 13 reports.

Jenkins, 34, is facing a slew of charges, including first-degree attempted murder, robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Wright, 36, has been hit with charges that include two counts of principal to first-degree attempted murder, two counts of robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon, and two counts of principal to aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

Doctors say it could be at least six months before Delacruz can walk again.

An investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
