“It’s quite a troubling sign for the Biden campaign,” says data analyst Harry Enten.
CNN data analyst Harry Enten couldn’t hide his dismay at the “troubling” numbers showing a major shift in support among black voters from Joe Biden to former President Donald Trump.
Enten broke down how Biden’s support among black voters has collapsed while Trump’s has more than doubled since 2020, according to a recent New York Times/Sienna College poll.
“This margin, which was in the 70s just four years ago, look at where it is now, 69 minus 22. That puts it in the 40s. My goodness gracious,” Enten said Friday on “CNN News Central.”
Trump has doubled his support among Black voters from this point four years ago. If his support held, it’d be the best GOP performance since Richard Nixon in 1960 among Black voters….

If this trend continued into November, Enten said, Trump could win a larger share of Black voters than any Republican candidate since 1960.
“This would be by far the best performance for Republican candidate among black voters in a generation, two generations, probably since 1960 and Richard Nixon against John Kennedy, that’s how long we’re really talking about when we’re looking at this margin here,” he said.
“This could be a truly historic margin. It’s quite a troubling sign for the Biden campaign,” he added.
Enten went on to point out how Trump saw his biggest support among young black voters.
“If you look among black voters age 50 and over, you’ll see that Joe Biden has a very substantial lead here. Look at this at 82% to 8%, this lead is still in the 70s. This looks a lot like what we saw in the overall polling back in 2020,” he said.
“This is historic. This is what a lot of folks have been talking about, that Joe Biden has a specific problem among younger Black voters, and that is exactly what showing up right here. It‘s these younger Black voters who very much are turning on him and being much more supportive of Donald Trump than they were four years ago.”
A recent Cygnal poll conducted in 20 states shows Democrats are struggling to maintain their edge with black and women voters, “two traditionally reliable Democrat voting blocs”, over Biden’s inflationary policies and the party’s pandering to the far-left on “extreme” issues.
