Trump used his social-media platform Truth Social to express his thanks and condolences
Donald Trump took to Truth Social in the aftermath of yesterday’s failed assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The former president, who was wounded on the right ear by a sniper’s bullet, thanked the Secret Service and law enforcement, and also extended his condolences to the families of those directly affected by the assassination attempt. One person was killed and at least two more are in critical condition.
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump posted.
“Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
The FBI have now identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the would-be assassin.
Biographical details about Crooks are already beginning to emerge and be reported by the mainstream media.
Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022.
He was apparently registered to vote as a Republican, but Election Commission records show that a donor with the same name and address gave $15 to a Democrat PAC called Progressive Turnout Project in 2021.
Crooks’ father told CNN that he was still trying to understand “what the hell is going on,” and would reserve comment “until I talk to law enforcement.”
