GOP Texas Governor Greg Abbott told Fox News reporter Maria Bartiromo on Sunday that Joe Biden is lying by claiming he needs Congress to pass new laws in order to secure the nation’s southern border.
Abbott said:
“Biden says he needs Congress to give him the power to do whatever he needs to do to secure the border. The fact is as we all saw from what President Trump did, the president of the United States has the power. I must emphasize this. There are laws in the United States that require the president to deny illegal entry to any illegal immigrant and then if they do get in the United States, he has a legal obligation to detain those illegal immigrants. Joe Biden is failing at both of those duties and that’s exactly what gives Texas the authority to make sure we can step up and secure our own border and protect our state through self-defense.”

Abbott also touched on an effort by New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams to provide illegal immigrants with prepaid credit cards on the American taxpayers’ dime.
“It sounds like insanity is behind it because it really is offensive, it may be the most reprehensible thing that I’ve seen take place over the past 48 hours,” the governor told Bartiromo.
The Texas politician also pointed out the move to give illegals even more money comes soon after a group of illegal aliens assaulted NYPD officers and fled the state after being released without bail.
“What’s going on in New York is outrageous and Americans across the country are angry, not just about what’s going on in New York, but the underlying cause for it, which is Joe Biden’s open border policies,” he said.
