Govini, a Virginia-based military software company specializing in AI for the ‘defense acquisition process’ issued a report documenting the reliance that the U.S. armed forces have on combat systems manufactured in China.
“While China cranks out advanced weapons at a prodigious rate, it has also embedded itself in the supply chains for vital components of U.S. military platforms and weapons systems, creating U.S. reliance on the Chinese industrial base,” the report said on page 2. “Between 2014 and 2022, U.S. dependence on China for electronics increased by 600%.”

It turns out that 41 percent of DoD weapons systems & infrastructure supply chains rely on Chinese semiconductors.
“U.S. companies at the bottom of the supply chain pyramid often source these parts from China in open market transactions. As a result, many essential components in sensitive U.S. military systems now come from China. Countless major weapons platforms are vulnerable,” the report said on page 4.
Page 5 has a massive list of Chinese parts suppliers that manufacture various components of advanced military systems such as the B-2 Bomber aircraft, the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, the Ohio Class nuclear ballistic missile submarines and the Patriot missile system.
Interestingly, the first page of the report discussed how the U.S. military is weak, outclassed and unable to fight the war in Ukraine.
“The conflict in Ukraine has illuminated inadequate numbers
of weapons in the U.S. inventory, from artillery shells to anti-aircraft missiles, due to an undersized workshop for war, a predicament the unexpected necessity to backstop Israel after the October attacks exacerbated. Overall, U.S. military systems are too old and few. Its magazine stocks are too low,” the report said on page 1.
While the report didn’t call for more weapons production to wage war, it did discuss the need for domestic production of defense systems in order to deter war.
“Under the current U.S. government approach, industry cannot
meet production demands to support allies under fire and deter war in the Pacific,” the report said on page 1.
It is not clear if China will continue to supply America with weapons if the U.S. was to use those weapons to go to war with them, even though General Motors supplied the Nazi war machine. Mercedes-Benz however maintained its dignity by not aiding their enemy.
American company IBM also aided the Nazis during the war, although the German company Siemens remained loyal to its country during the conflict.
It remains to be seen if China will help the U.S. go to war with them.
