Five illegal aliens charged in separate thefts at department stores in DuPage County, Illinois
Illegal aliens from Venezuela were arrested following robberies at department stores in the Chicago suburbs over Thanksgiving weekend, authorities say.
Two separate incidents unfolded in DuPage County, Illinois, during the Black Friday retail rush.
On Friday, police were called to a Kohl’s store in the city of Elmhurst after a trio of suspects executed multiple thefts in a short span of time.
“It is alleged that three individuals, later identified as Ledesma Zapata, Saavedra-Omona and Pineda Avendano, entered Kohl’s, selected multiple items of clothing and then left the store without paying for the merchandise,” the County of DuPage explained in a press release.
“It is further alleged that the trio then reentered the store, again selected multiple items of clothing and left the store without paying, at which time they were detained by officers with the Elmhurst Police Department.”
The merchandise was estimated to be just over $500 in value.
Authorities say Zapata was found carrying a magnet used to defeat anti-theft devices.
The defendants each face felony charges of burglary and retail theft.
“Judge Anthony Coco denied the State’s motion to detain pre-trial for each defendant. In their motion, the State alleged the defendants are a flight risk,” county officials stated.
They were released and ordered to appear back in court on December 18.
On Saturday, two Venezuelan men were arrested for stealing approximately $770 worth of merchandise from a Macy’s in the town of Oak Brook.
Authorities say the suspects entered the store carrying a bag lined with foil and stuffed hundreds of dollars of clothing inside.
One of the suspects, identified as 27-year-old Lenguieyer Guevara-Muro, exited the store carrying the stolen goods and ignored loss prevention officers trying to stop him.
When Guevara-Muro also flouted orders from an Oak Brook police officer, he was arrested by force as he resisted and tried to flee.
The other suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jinder Moises Angulo-Aparicio, was taken into custody as he left the store.
At a hearing, the same judge granted the state’s motion to detain Guevara-Muro ahead of trial, but denied that motion for Angulo-Aparicio.
Both men face felony charges of burglary and retail theft.
“For the second day in a row, my office has filed charges against individuals from Venezuela accused of stealing merchandise from a retail store,” said DuPage County State Attorney Robert Berlin.
“As I have said before but bears repeating, as we are in the midst of the holiday shopping season, we will continue to do everything we can to protect our businesses and customers, and anyone who shoplifts will be arrested, charged and prosecuted.”
Illegal aliens from Venezuela have repeatedly targeted the Macy’s in Oak Brook in recent months, as InfoWars previously reported.
