CBS anchor seethes over network’s own poll showing 62% of all Americans favor President Trump’s plan to deport 15-20 million illegal aliens.
CBS “Face the Nation” anchor Margaret Brennan struggled to accept the results of a poll showing two-thirds of Americans support the mass deportation of illegal aliens.
Brennan appeared shocked over recent figures Sunday showing that 62% of all Americans back, “in principle, a new government program to deport all undocumented immigrants living in the US illegally.”
CBS’s @MargBrennan flummoxed by poll showing 62% support deporting all undocumented immigrants. Biden has deported “more people in the past year than any year since 2010” and “it doesn’t seem practical…to round up children…So what exactly do people think they’re supporting?” pic.twitter.com/UqHHAC1hkA

The CBS News/YouGov poll showed support was also strong across racial and political lines. A majority of Hispanics, 53%, would support national deportations, and even a significant minority of Democrats, 38%, were also in favor.
Former President Donald Trump has laid out a plan to “carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American history” if elected in November, which would send back 15-20 million illegal aliens to their respective home countries.
In a pathetic attempt to defend the Biden administration, Brennan remarked that Joe Biden “has already deported or repatriated more people in the past year than any year since 2010.”
Brennan also criticized Trump’s plan to mass deport tens of millions of illegal aliens, claiming that “some of what Mr. Trump talks about could be illegal.”
“It doesn’t seem practical, in some sense, to round up children,” she said, ignoring the fact that about 80% of illegal aliens coming across the border have been adult men.
“And then we know that the courts have questioned whether local authorities would have the ability to do it. And federal authorities don’t have the resources. So what exactly do people think they’re supporting?”
CBS pollster Anthony Salvanto noted that “folks say the system as a whole is not working” and this widespread support for mass deportations is “part of that reaction against it, which explains some of that general sentiment for some of these policies.”
Brennan replied, “It’s really just kind of a ‘Do something.’”
In light of the American people’s deep dissatisfaction with the open border — especially in an election year — the Biden administration last week announced a plan to bar asylum for illegal aliens who cross into the country if illegal crossings exceed 2,500 per day for seven consecutive days.
Notably, this plan will still allow at least 1.8 million asylum seekers to enter the U.S. annually, hardly a “crackdown” touted by the White House.
In fact, Fox News reporter Bill Melugin reported that Biden’s executive action is simply empty political posturing, sharing an internal DHS memo instructing Border Patrol to continue processing all single adults from over 100 countries in the eastern hemisphere.
NEW: @FoxNews has obtained an internal Border Patrol memo sent to agents in San Diego sector after President Biden’s executive order took effect, instructing them to release single adults from all but six countries in the eastern hemisphere & classifying them as “hard” or “very… pic.twitter.com/OaSLSYbuC1
