White House Communications Official Deletes Anti-White, Anti-Police, Anti-Trump Posts after Backlash

Tyler Cherry was forced to apologize over past Tweets

A newly promoted communications official in the White House has been forced to apologize after social-media posts likening the police to “slave patrols and lynch mobs” were unearthed.

Tyler Cherry issued an apology on Sunday in response to the emergence of tweets dating back to 2014 and 2015 in which he, among other things, criticised law enforcement and called for the abolition of ICE.

In one of the posts, written at the time of Freddie Gray’s death in police custody, Cherry wrote, “Praying for #Baltimore, but praying even harder for an end to a capitalistic police state motivated by explicit and implicit racial biases.”

In another post from around the same time, he wrote, “Time to recall that the modern day police system is a direct evolution of slave patrols and lynch mobs.”

Cherry used social media to make the apology. “Past social media posts from when I was younger do not reflect my current views. Period,” he tweeted.

But other Twitter users took the opportunity to remind Cherry that the posts he was apologizing for were just the tip of the iceberg.

“That’s really awesome to hear Tyler— could you elaborate on what views are different and which one of these past posts do not reflect your current views?” Tweeted Ashley St Clair in response, with a montage of Tweets by Cherry about Russiagate, gender pronouns, systemic racism, white nationalism and other liberal talking points du jour. The posts revealed that Cherry took a gender studies minor in college.

Nate Hochman posted a series of images of Tweets in which Cherry expressed an obvious anti-white bias.

“There are pages and pages of this guy just quote-tweeting pictures of random events and going ‘hmm. too many white people’,” Hochman said.

An hour after the post, Hochman posted again to allege that Cherry had scrubbed every reference to “white” from his Twitter account.

Cherry’s entire Twitter account has now been scrubbed of all posts, replies and media, except for his apology.
