Troopers discover large group of illegals hiding behind false wall in smuggling truck
A human smuggling suspect was arrested after police found more than a dozen illegal aliens hiding behind a false wall inside a cargo truck in Texas this week.
The incident unfolded on Friday in Kinney County.
Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) troopers pulled over a suspicious Lowe’s box truck on US-277.
After the driver consented to a search of the vehicle, TxDPS says troopers “discovered discrepancies inside the cargo area” and determined the vehicle may have been modified for smuggling purposes.

“Troopers utilized a breaching tool to gain access to the false compartment resulting in the discovery of 17 illegal immigrants crammed within a 3’ wide compartment,” TxDPS explained in a statement.
“Several illegal immigrants required medical treatment for dehydration.”
Megel Cazanna Patterson, a resident of Mississippi, was taken into custody and charged with smuggling persons with the likelihood of serious bodily injury or death.
The illegal aliens were turned over to Border Patrol for processing.
